2024 Outreach Program

In line with the Association’s commitment to support and uplift our people back home, the Outreach Committee was established with a clear mandate to propose effective ways to alleviate their suffering. The committee identified key areas where intervention could make a significant impact, and these were aimed at addressing the root causes of the challenges faced by our communities

 Priority Areas for Intervention

Skill Acquisition Programs

A major factor contributing to the insecurity and unemployment plaguing our land is the lack of opportunities for skill development. The committee proposed that the Association partner with professionals and mentors who are willing to train and guide willing learners (apprentices). Establishing such partnerships is seen as a sustainable way to create employment, empower the youth, and ultimately help rebuild the socio-economic structure of our society.

Immediate Hunger Relief

Given the current levels of poverty and food insecurity, exacerbated by high unemployment and insecurity, the committee identified an urgent need to provide immediate relief in the form of food supplies.

Project 2024: Hunger Relief Initiative

Due to the immediacy and feasibility of execution, the committee decided to focus on the second area of intervention for its 2024 project. Acknowledging the widespread hunger caused by insecurity and lack of employment, the Association opted to distribute food supplies to remote communities, particularly targeting aged parents and vulnerable individuals.

As part of the Hunger Relief Initiative, we procured and distributed bags of local rice to several selected remote communities. This act of solidarity was met with deep gratitude from the recipients, as many elderly residents in these communities were struggling to access necessities.

The success of this initiative demonstrates the Association's commitment to addressing both the immediate and long-term needs of our people. While the food distribution served as a short-term relief effort, our focus remains on sustainable solutions, such as the Skill Acquisition Program, which we hope to implement in the near future.

The Outreach Committee remains dedicated to exploring and executing initiatives that will uplift our communities and ensure a brighter future for all.

This report provides a summary of the Outreach Committee’s efforts and the success of the Hunger Relief Initiative, which will serve as a foundation for future projects aimed at poverty alleviation.
